Lunch should not have to become a whole project.
Sometimes you want to sit down with a friend, get out of the office for an hour or have a proper meal between everything else happening that day. Sometimes you need to feed a room full of people without asking everyone to fend for themselves.
The Backyard is now serving lunch from 12 to 3 pm, Monday to Friday, right here in Valleycliffe. You can join us in the pub, order takeout or speak with us in advance about a larger pickup order for your office, meeting or team.
It is lunch made for how people in Squamish actually use it.
A Squamish lunch menu shaped by local feedback
Before launching lunch, we asked our community what they wanted from us. Nearly 200 people took the time to answer.
The message was fairly clear. People wanted good sandwiches, lighter and fresher choices, familiar pub food, vegetarian options and meals that felt worth leaving the house or office for. They also wanted somewhere comfortable for a weekday lunch, whether that meant catching up with a friend, meeting a client or opening a laptop for a while.
So that is what we built.
The lunch menu is smaller than our evening menu on purpose. It gives our little kitchen a chance to keep the food fresh and the service moving while still offering enough choice for a table where nobody wants the same thing.
What is on The Backyard lunch menu?
The menu brings together proper sandwiches, salads, bowls, flatbreads, burgers and a few pub favourites.
Lunch highlights include:
Our grilled cheese on sourdough with mozzarella, cheddar and provolone, served with tomato basil bisque
The Italian deli sandwich with roast beef, smoked ham, capicola, provolone and all the good stuff
A chicken club with grilled chicken, bacon and provolone
A halloumi sandwich with roasted red pepper, arugula and pesto mayo
The summer salad with strawberries, cucumber, goat cheese and pecans candied in-house
Cobb salad, halloumi chickpea bowl and a choice of lunch flatbreads
Burgers, poutine, chicken wings and other pub staples for days when a light lunch was never really the plan
Our lunch sandwiches come with house-made potato chips and curry mayo, with other side options available. There are also vegetarian choices and gluten-free modifications available on selected dishes.

A relaxed place for a working lunch in Squamish
Not every working lunch needs a boardroom.
The Backyard has room for a quick one-to-one, a team lunch or a less formal meeting where people can eat properly and have a conversation. Laptops are welcome, and weekday afternoons tend to have a different pace from a busy trivia night or a packed sports event.
If you are planning to bring a larger group into the pub, contact us ahead of time. Groups of ten or more are handled through our group-booking process, and availability depends on what else is happening that day.
We are still a neighbourhood pub, so expect a warm room, a real lunch and none of the awkwardness of trying to make a coffee last through a two-hour meeting.
Looking for office lunch catering in Squamish?
We do not offer delivery, hot delivery, setup or full-service catering. What we can offer is a larger lunch order, prepared in advance and ready for you to pick up from The Backyard at a confirmed time.
That can work well if you are:
Feeding the team during a meeting or training day
Planning a staff lunch at the office
Hosting a workshop or community meeting
Ordering lunch for a crew or volunteer group
Trying to avoid collecting twelve completely separate last-minute orders
Because our kitchen is compact, larger orders need to be arranged with us ahead of time and are subject to capacity. Depending on the size of the order, we may recommend a more focused selection from the lunch menu so the kitchen can prepare everything well and have it ready as close together as possible.
We will confirm the menu, pickup timing and any dietary requests with you before the order is finalized. We would rather be honest about what we can do than promise something our kitchen cannot deliver.

Lunch in Valleycliffe, without the rush downtown
The Backyard is at 1907 Maple Drive in Valleycliffe, a few minutes from downtown Squamish.
For people who live or work in this end of town, lunch no longer needs to mean crossing town or settling for whatever happened to make it into the fridge that morning. There is a table, a patio when the weather cooperates and a kitchen ready from noon.
You can come by on your own, bring the team or pick up food to take back to work. Simple as that.
